I offer clinical nutrition & health coaching in a 1:1 setting, seeing patients both in the Washington D.C. area as well as virtually.
What is functional nutrition? It’s a type of healthcare that recognizes the importance of lifestyle in the disease process. Lifestyle includes the choices you have control over such as:
The food you eat (or don’t eat)
The amount and quality of sleep you get
Your ability to manage life’s stressors
How much you move and the type of movement you get
How connected you feel to other people
There is a lot of information out there about all the lifestyle changes you “should” be making. My job is to personalize an approach that looks at where you are from an individual perspective and then help you go from understanding to action. There isn’t a magic pill in functional nutrition. It’s hard work and I would be honored to join you on your journey towards optimal health.
Testing options
As a licensed nutritionist, as part of your nutrition and health coaching I have the ability to order lab testing to help understand the underlying imbalance that lead to symptoms. Based on an initial intake and your health history, I will order tests as needed to help us further define next steps. In some cases, these tests are covered by insurance. Functional testing can also be helpful if you are looking to optimize your health and fine tune your diet.
The biomarkers we can look at with testing include:
Vitamin and mineral status
Ratio of Omega 3:6:9 fats at the cellular level
Toxin load screening for heavy metals as well as environmental contaminants
Antioxidant status
Comprehensive stool analysis that includes microbiome assessment, digestive function, inflammation, and infection screening
Bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine
Cortisol and melatonin balance
How to start working with me:
You can work with me for nutrition and health coaching in a convenient virtual appointment using Zoom.
The first appointment we will have will be an initial intake which lasts up to 60 minutes. I ask that you complete two forms- intake and consent- prior to this appointment so I can review this before we begin. We will review your health concerns, take an inventory of your health timeline, and assess your status in each of the key pillars of health- diet, movement, stress management, sleep, and social connections. Then we will co-create a plan that you own and feel comfortable with implementing. Thus, our journey towards self-knowledge and acceptance begins!

Insurance coverage
As a licensed nutritionist I can provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) procedure codes for you to submit to your insurance company that accompany any diagnosis codes that you have received from a medical doctor. I do not work directly with insurance companies but I have many patients that report good reimbursement of my fees. The best approach is to consult with your insurance company to know your specific coverage for Medical Nutrition Therapy.
