Why Make Your Own Salad Dressing?

Managing your intake of healthy fat is critical to providing your brain with what it needs to work it’s best. Unfortunately, the types of fats found in packaged foods- including pre-made salad dressing- is not the healthy kind. Most often these foods are made with cheaper oils that have high amounts of free radicals such as canola, sunflower, and safflower oil. Salad dressing, in particular, can be full of rancid oils, sugar, and other food chemicals which detract from the health benefits of the salad that we put it on.

Instead, try making your own salad dressing, using olive oil as the base and adding different types of vinegar and spices to tweak the flavor. Here’s a salad dressing recipe that you can use to boost your healthy fats and boost your brain power!
